Cruise Cuisine

Cruise Cuisine Mud CrabWe attach great importance to quality food and a few drinks being a part of your cruise pleasure and relaxation.

Freshly Caught Meals

All meals are freshly prepared on board to your liking. Fresh fish, crabs, oysters and other fresh produce are caught and collected by you, and prepared by us. For your enjoyment.

Chef

Damien, our Chef, hails from country South Australia with a farming upbringing that meant he was always surrounded by cattle, milking and helping Mum in the Kitchen. It was thus a natural progression for him to head off to the bright lights of Adelaide, to do his apprenticeship.

Damien passed with flying colours and it was not long before he was working in top restaurants alongside the Head Chef and then in Functions, under constant pressure, always performing but always had time for a smile. He brought that cool, calm and collected nature to K2O in April 2007 at the sprightly age of 21. Damien is an asset to our crew and he even catches his own Barramundi.

Ingredients

Our food is made from wholesome ingredients that are made with thought and high quality presentation. The emphasis is on fresh Kimberley flavours (we also cater for those who cannot eat fish or seafood) and the guests love nothing more than going out for the day, catching their meal whether that be mud crabs, oysters or fish, then dining under a lustrous Kimberley moon and feasting on a dish knowing they caught it themselves fresh that day!

Fresh Fish

We serve fish at least every third meal (or more if our guests request - fish stocks permitting). The favourite is usually a fresh fillet of Barra or Mangrove Jack brushed with olive oil & cooked to perfection on the barbeque served with a salad of seasonal veggies.

Cruise Menu

Other dishes range from Warm Thai Lamb / Beef salad on arrival day when passengers are getting their sea legs to fragrant fish curry served on a bed of steamed jasmine rice.

Examples of other dishes in Damien’s portfolio include:

  • Champagne Poached Fish served on a Potato Galette
  • Chicken a la King
  • Prosciutto Wrapped Lamb Backstrap and Veal Roulade

Desserts can be Vanilla Pannecotta, Crème Brulee and Passionfruit Cheesecake.

Variety

We consider the food to be an important and integral part of the cruise experience and like to maintain variety. We therefore alternate between a cooked and continental breakfast, morning tea is served depending on the day’s activities. We never want our guests to be hungry. There is always a fruit bowl on display for guests to help themselves.

Sometimes our ‘gastronomic interludes’ are served on shore (location permitting). This could mean lunch at the Berkley rocky amphitheatre or morning tea / afternoon canapés at Ruby Falls.

Facilities

K2O has a gourmet galley that sprawls between the interior of the boat and onto the back deck. The back deck on the K2O has direct access to a chiller containing complimentary cold drinks, or your own beverages.

You will also find an ice machine, soft drinks and hot beverages for your enjoyment.

We trust this has whet you appetite about the luxury of cruising the Kimberley aboard K2O - email Liz today to request your free glossy brochure.
