The Launch of One Tide
One Tide Charters commenced operations in April 1997. Our first tours were one day fishing and crabbing trips from Derby. In 1998, One Tide charter vessel was originally White Lightning to launch cruises to the Buccaneer Archipelago. In 2008 One Tide Charters launched our trademark vessel Kimberley Xplorer, Aaron has Master V qualification with 17 years of boating experience.
How One Tide Got Its Name
The naming of the Charter business 'One Tide Charters' came about as your cruising the Kimberley coastline you are not fully appreciating the significance of the extreme tidal variations and sometimes your up a river system and have to wait "for one tide" to be able to get out.
About our Skipper
Aaron has been around vessels and boats pretty much most of his life either professionally or recreationally. It has been a dream of his to own his own charter vessel and take people on trips of a life time. He moved to the Kimberley region in 2020 and has been there ever since. He came across to the One Tide Team a few years ago and worked under Greg Prouse (the previous owner) before being in a position to take over the infamous One Tide name.
Aaron is a fishermen at heart and love a laugh and chat. He has fished many barramundi tournaments and has managed a few top 5's with 2nd placing being his best placing at the Barra Nationals in the NT on the Daly River.
Kimberley Experience
Over a 25 year period, Greg made several extended trips to the Kimberley of three to twelve months duration. He has dedicated much of this time to exploring the Kimberley coastline. Greg spent three months working with Malcolm Douglas to produce a documentary titled 'One Wet Season'. He also spent twelve months living with an Aboriginal community in the northeast Kimberley, learning about Aboriginal culture and bush survival.
The Crew
Aaron is assisted in the charter business by his wife Angie, first mate Adam, deckhand Marisa and one of our onboard cooks, Maureen or Ann.
